Speculative Fact #268: Can Silicon Be Sensitive?

Did you know that people who are born blind still smile when they’re happy? While some facial tics and gestures are culture dependent emotions are universal (unless you’re a sociopath) and can reveal themselves via “tells” like micro-expressions if one knows how to read them. As technology improves we may even teach robots how to read human faces and interpret emotions to be better companions.
We often envision robots being clumsy and emotionless, but what if they were the exact opposite? Imagine a story where artificial friends could know what we’re feeling with uncanny (maybe even unsettling) precision.
