 So, this is not near future, but come on, Richard Branson, get on board! Basically, they're trying to hot-wire the brain to have it act like a Bluetooth. The only problem is figuring out how to upgrade the hardware without performing brain surgery. This is the coolest thing I've heard since it was reported that warp drive is theoretically possible.
