Speculative Fact #274: Drones To Track Wildlife?

Drone technology now seems ubiquitous, with more and more tasks being assigned to newer and better machines.
In the near future drones may be used to tag and track the movement of whale pods, a task that used to be done be laboriously done by marine biologists.
The technology allows for a means of studying whales in their natural habitat without being as intrusive. Now let’s wonder – can drone sentinels be used to guard endangered species from poachers and black market hunters? Can tiny drones help keep an out on tiny critters and pests? Maybe the ranches of the future will be tended and run by robot shepherds and wranglers too.
