Based on the work of the Jungian psychologist Robert L. Moore, the King (or queen)/Warrior/Magician/Lover archetypes are used as portals to help understand the development of the human mind and personality.
The KWML archetypes may be a useful tool when determining what kind of character you are writing. Are they natural born but calm leaders, like kings/queens? Do they like to rush in and take charge like warriors? Are they charismatic and clever like magicians? Are they gentle and passionate like lovers?
